I work in the reverse osmosis industry, where the conductivity of the water produced by reverse osmosis is around 100 us/cm. What type of flow meter would be suitable for use in such cases? Currently, an E+H electromagnetic flowmeter is being used, but according to the information I found, electromagnetic flowmeters are not suitable for low conductivity?
A conductivity of 100 should be fine to measure using electromagnetic methods; if there are concerns, then use vortex flow meters
For reverse osmosis produced water, HP51530 series plug-in rotameter flow meters are generally used. Flow sensor: HP51530-P0 (suitable for diameters 0.5–4", DN15–DN100) ; HP51530-P1 (suitable for 5-8" diameter, DN125-DN200) ; HP51530-P2 (suitable for diameters 10-36", DN250-DN900) ; Flow transmitter: H3-9900-1P(H3-8550-1P)
There are indeed quite a few of those rotary flow meters; we use GF’s ones
For electromagnetic flowmeters, the required conductivity is generally above 20 us/cm; values as low as 5 us/cm are also acceptable, so it’s safe to use a value of 100.
Feel free to use this electromagnet; values of 5us or more work fine, as I have conducted tests. Don’t listen to those who suggest using GF rotors; it’s all just numbers that are generated, and upon verification, they’re all incorrect
The electromagnetic flowmeters from Cologne can be used; in our field conditions, even when the conductivity fluctuates around 30 us/cm, measurements can still be taken properly.
:) Electromagnetic flowmeters are more than capable of handling this task, and their accuracy is guaranteed; a conductivity level of over 5 us/cm is generally sufficient, while split-type flowmeters may require a level above 20 us/cm, but that too is adequate.
