In the SIS system, how is an audible and visual alarm generated when an emergency stop is triggered due to a parameter exceeding the limit? Is it necessary to install audible and visual alarms on-site, or is an alarm on the auxiliary control panel sufficient?
We reported the incident at two locations: one where there was lighting on the auxiliary control panel, and another where there were audio and visual alerts on the SIS system operation station. If you are part of large corporate entities such as Sinopec or CNPC, please follow the practices established by your respective systems. There are industry standards for the petrochemical sector.
SIS systems generally have few dedicated operation stations; instead, it is more common to transmit the alarm signals to the DCS, where audible and visual alarms are triggered. The auxiliary control panel should also have a buzzer and indicator lights
It turns out that we didn’t set up operation stations either; however, the new safety regulations require their installation, so we have installed operation stations in all our new projects.
Acoustic and optical alarms are generally provided at the auxiliary control panel; they are not installed on-site. Our SIS does not have an operator station.
Is SIS still in use? What does SIS do? Has the interlock not been triggered? Do you initiate the operation to trigger it, or has the interlock already been triggered and are you sending a command back as a response? SIS does not require any operation station at all. If the SIS has an operation station, then what needs to be operated by the operator at that station?
