Converting analog signals to digital signals on Siemens touchscreens

To introduce the 4-20ma analog signals generated by the field instruments into the touch screen, I am considering using an analog signal acquisition module that supports Modbus to communicate with the Siemens touch screen, in order to convert those analog signals into digital ones for display on the touch screen. I was wondering if anyone has implemented a similar solution before – specifically, whether a Siemens touch screen can communicate with external conversion modules that support the Modbus RTU protocol
Is it a modification of an existing system on-site? If so, it seems better to directly introduce the analog signal into the PLC and then use the PLC to communicate with the panel
For the analog signals from those two field instruments, it’s a bit wasteful to use a PLC, so that’s why I thought of this solution
Just use a paperless recorder or digital display to monitor the two analog values. The cost is also low. The conversion module plus a Siemens display is also not cheap.
