Hello everyone: Our company has recently installed a new gas pipeline, and a turbine flow meter is being used for measuring the flow rate. Is it necessary to have a straight pipe section before the flow meter? How many times the straight pipe length? Thank you!
A straight pipe is required; at least 10 units in front and 5 units behind should be ensured. However, try to make the straight section as long as possible during installation, following the installation instructions.
During installation, the flow direction of the liquid should be consistent with the arrow indicating the flow direction on the sensor housing. The straight pipe section upstream should be ≥6DS, and the straight pipe section downstream should be ≥5DS (where DS is the actual inner diameter of the pipeline under measurement).
The information is not consistent either; the test bank for instrument technicians requires 15D at the beginning and 5D at the end.
It is necessary, and it is essential to ensure 10 in the front and 5 at the back.
Request 10D at the beginning and 5D at the end, as long as possible.
It doesn’t really matter whether it’s added or not; it will definitely break within half a year anyway.
