I have a question: For storage tanks at atmospheric pressure, such as those used for storing concentrated sulfuric acid, is it necessary to install an emergency shut-off valve at the outlet?
It is generally not necessary to set it, but if the storage volume is large, it is appropriate to add one for safety reasons
Take a look at Document No. 68 issued by the State Administration of Work Safety; it stipulates the requirement for emergency shut-off valves on hazardous chemical storage tanks. However, whether this requirement is actually implemented depends on the judgment of local experts. Half of the flammable, explosive, highly toxic, and extremely toxic materials require such installations
If the storage capacity of the tank is small, an emergency shut-off valve is not necessary; however, if the storage capacity is large, an emergency shut-off valve must be installed.
If it can be closed by the valve operator after a leak occurs, then there’s no need to do anything else.
