This post was last edited by tiandiyi*an on 2017-11-9 at 15:53. The float rod of the float level gauge in the vacuum distillation tower of the atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit is severely bent; please help analyze the reasons for this, as well as what brands of float level gauges are used.
The liquid surface is fluctuating severely and not properly positioned.
Dig~~~~ It’s such an exciting ball. . . . . . I’ve never seen a link float ball before. Is this link a hollow tube or a solid rod? .
. . . I’ve really never seen anything like this. Is it a level switch? Come in and learn* a bit.
Bent downward? Is the upper fluid scouring causing the ball to become too large, or has something fallen on it? Is the buoyancy of the ball design too high when it is designed to bend upward?
The degree of bending has reached its maximum limit; it is presumed that the material undergoes continuous, significant positional changes/shocks, there were serious errors in positioning during adjustment, the weight fell out of place, and the mechanical transmission parts got stuck.
I always thought that float level gauges were installed from the top; to find that there are also those installed on the side walls with bends inside – it’s really enlightening
There are two methods used by our factory. One is an emergency measure: the bent area is heated using gas welding to straighten it out, and then stainless steel long bolts are welded on either side of the bent area to reinforce it, allowing the component to be used again. However, the strength of the bent area remains lower than that of the other parts of the connecting rod, and the reinforcement points remain weak points; therefore, these areas are inspected every time the component is serviced. Another option is to replace it with a float level gauge featuring a wide range, and to shorten the float rod; however, such wide-range float gauges suffer from severe dead zone effects, have many internal components, and are prone to corrosion, requiring disassembly and inspection during each maintenance session. The float level gauges used in the refining industry, those from the two or three companies in Dandong in Northeast China, have similar performance. However, it is recommended to choose mechanical gauge transmitters with traditional analog pointers; the so-called intelligent digital models have poor performance and are difficult to calibrate. Some of the mechanical models in use in factories have worked for over a decade without any problems, while digital intelligent models can fail after just a few months.
