Dear sea friends: Regarding the calibration cycle for instruments, we know that it can be once a year, once every two years, or once every six months, but who knows which standards these requirements are based on?
The calibration regulations or specifications for the corresponding instruments specify the calibration cycle.
It is generally carried out in accordance with the calibration procedures or specifications for instruments. However, the user entity can also determine the calibration interval reasonably based on factors such as the instrument’s stability, its importance, and the environmental conditions; this interval may be shorter or longer than the time periods specified in the calibration procedures/specifications, provided that there are corresponding documents to regulate this.
Could you give some examples of what these regulations are?

The calibration cycle specified in the calibration regulations serves as a reference standard; companies can determine their own calibration cycles based on the actual conditions of the instruments in use, such as the quality of the instruments, the importance of the locations where they are used, as well as the intervals for major repairs or maintenance. These cycles should be defined through the company’s internal regulations or standards. If the technical supervision authority does not raise any objections, then these cycles can be followed. It is crucial to ensure the accuracy of the instruments in use, to prevent issues arising from overly long calibration intervals that could affect their performance and thus compromise production safety.
