DCS cabinet indirect wiring

Hello everyone, I am new to the instrumentation industry and have a question I’d like to ask: For field instruments that are connected to junction boxes via signal cables, and then sent to the DCS through main cables in cable trays, should they be connected first to the system cabinet and then to the terminal cabinet, or vice versa? I hope everyone can help answer this. Thank you. It would be best to explain the issue of indirect wiring in cabinets as well. :P
First, go to the terminal cabinet (or transfer cabinet), and then to the system cabinet.
It depends on the function of your wires: if a safety barrier for conversion is needed, go to the relay cabinet first; if direct connection to the card is required, the system cabinet will work as well. In the past, the DCS systems used 314-type cards, with the wires connected directly at the site, and it was only later that 313 cards were used with the help of safety barriers for the connection
It depends on what system you are using. Generally, it’s a terminal cabinet or transfer cabinet first; then it depends on the type of signal – some signals go through a safety barrier before reaching the system cabinet, while others use relays
