I’ve just switched from working outside to working indoors. My previous mentors didn’t understand logic either; I hope those who are more experienced can share any relevant materials or insights they have. I’d be extremely grateful... Something like the chart in the picture – how should one interpret such charts?
This is the detail interface of the CM for Honeywell PKS, not a logic diagram. You are an operator; you don’t need to know these things.
This should be the start/stop of a pump; for the Honeywell system, you can learn about it from your DCS maintenance engineers*. There’s a lot of material on the forum that you can download to study from. First, you need a high-spec computer with at least 8GB of RAM. Next, find a PKS410/500 virtual machine and then work through the materials step by step. You may not become an expert, but it’s still possible to understand the logic presented in what you’ve shared
The key is that it’s these topics that the process supervisor tests on; operational skills aren’t tested at all. It really stresses me out – various logical sequences are involved, and I can understand the simple ones, but if it gets more complex, I’m done :(
The main issue is that I can’t understand the meaning of those abbreviations; for example, I don’t know whatYSRL means, so I read more slowly. I can still follow the logic on my own
There are two functions: the pump stops when the liquid level is high. My picture doesn’t show everything. The auxiliary calculations on the right side are faster. Second, it should be that after timing, the pump with the shorter operating time is selected to run – are there multiple pumps? If not, it must be something else. The images are incomplete; they’re not complete
