Please tell me what overpressure protection of a pressure gauge is What is the difference between a pressure gauge with overpressure protection and one without such protection? Is it necessary to configure it? Is it usually configured? Could an expert please explain this, preferably with illustrations? Thank you in advance!

Overpressure protectors are used to safeguard pressure gauges, pressure transmitters, and other pressure-measuring instruments; they ensure that the pressure acting on these instruments does not exceed the maximum value indicated by their range. Principle: By utilizing a bellows and a regulating spring, the pressure setting value of the protector is determined. The bellows or piston activates the pressure cut-off system; when the pressure reaches the set value, the pressure gauge is disconnected from the process medium system, thereby protecting it. When the pressure falls below the value set by the protector, the cut-off system automatically returns to its original position under the force of the bellows and spring, reconnecting the pressure gauge
The price of the protector might be higher than that of the pressure gauge itself; if it’s not a highly toxic gas that can be deadly, then there’s no need to use one, right?
