Skid-mounted instrument control system

I would like to ask those who have experience with the installation of natural gas skids: is the control system for the instruments on each skid implemented by having an integrated PLC control cabinet on each skid, which then communicates with the control skid, or are the instrument control cabinets placed on the skids themselves but concentrated on the control skid? I’ve seen that many projects use the latter approach. Is this because the cost of using positive pressure ventilation in the field is too high, and flame-proof instrument cabinets cannot meet the cooling requirements, or is there some other reason? Doing this makes cable laying more complicated, and the advantages of skid-mounted design are not utilized in the instrumentation field.
