Different thermocouples use different compensation wires; to what extent does the thickness of the wire affect temperature?
No impact. The magnitude of the thermoelectric potential generated by a thermocouple is independent of its length and diameter; it depends only on the composition of the thermocouple material and the temperature difference between its two ends.
What is the material of thermocouples, how can one determine their quality, and are there any good methods for testing and measuring them?
For the user, this means calibrating or testing the thermocouple; if it passes the test, it indicates that there is no issue with the material of the thermocouple. As long as you purchase thermocouples from reputable manufacturers, their material quality is guaranteed. It’s hard to say something about counterfeit products.
Come and learn a bit – I’m using K-type thermocouples here; the compensation wire is quite hard, and it looks similar to aluminum wire
