SIL certificates issued by various foreign certification bodies are everywhere; with just a fully in English document and some fabricated data, many people in the instrumentation industry can be deceived. A few technical terms are enough to persuade companies to pay money willingly, with claims such as “The certificate will be issued within the same month for 20,000 yuan, and it will be a SIL4 certificate.” Not long ago, the owner of a well-known domestic valve company spent 500,000 yuan to get his valves certified, boasting that it was a certification from a foreign country and how impressive it was. Later, at an industry conference, he found that another valve manufacturer had also obtained certification from that same agency. Confused, he wondered how they could get certification for just 20,000 yuan. He then learned that the other party could complete the certification for 20,000 yuan only, while he had spent 500,000 yuan – which is nothing but a joke. Nowadays, many companies require that safety instruments used in SIS systems have SIL certification. Check whether the SIL certificate indicates “Verification” – which means that the issuer takes no responsibility whatsoever and has merely carried out a verification. “e*stent” means “existence”; in other words, you provide me with the information and I prove that it exists. There’s also “found”, which means “discovered”. In short, it simply means that something exists and I have discovered it – that’s all. SIL certification is not yet mature; what is done at this stage is far from adequate. Safety is a systematic concept, and it’s not possible for a design firm or certification body to understand and thoroughly analyze all the various on-site processes and conditions within a few days – it’s more of a matter of following procedures.

The cheapest ones are probably those with EU ECM certification; they’re too fake
Those worthless certificates like the EU ECM certificate and TUV Hand – it is said that they cannot be checked online. The specifications require this, and it seems like those companies are in trouble； The authoritative certificates from TUV Rheinland, TUV Süd, French BV, and those from the United States are all acceptable.
