Vertical labyrinth-sealed BOG compressor – why is there the term “labyrinth”?
No contact, no need for oil lubrication – and that’s called a labyrinth? What kind of stupid logic is that? The sun and the moon also have no contact and no need for lubrication; so why the hell isn’t it called a labyrinth sun or a labyrinth moon? The sun and the moon never get lost. . . Labyrinth compressor? What the hell is that?
A labyrinth compressor features a labyrinth-type sealing arrangement between the piston and the cylinder; a series of annular grooves are provided on the outer surface of the piston. These grooves, together with the working surface of the cylinder, create a series of labyrinthine chambers. Gas leakage is prevented through throttling of the gas, thereby achieving sealing. Its advantage is that it lacks piston rings, so the piston does not come into contact with the cylinder. You’ll understand once you take it apart during a major repair

The piston features a labyrinth-type design. The labyrinth creates a contact-free seal between the piston and the cylinder wall, eliminating the need for lubrication.
It’s just a matter of different sealing methods: comb seal and labyrinth seal are used for media or applications where strict sealing requirements do not apply or leakage is acceptable, while dry gas seals are used for situations where leakage is not permitted or when dealing with toxic media.
Is a maze still needs an explanation? What others are asking is whether the labyrinth compressor is good I’ve been explaining the features of labyrinth piston compressors, but sadly, I don’t even have any relevant information to give you. With so many imported devices available these days, how can one still be proud of not knowing English? I won’t try to make money from illiterates; it tends to lower my IQ.
