I have a question: for unsealed pipe threads, namely G1/2 threads, since the length of the external thread is not sufficient, it’s not possible to use PTFE gaskets for sealing as is done with pressure gauge connections. Is it possible to use tape for sealing in order to take pressure readings from the pipeline? If it can be sealed, what are the maximum temperature and pressure tolerances? Previously, pipe fittings were sealed using NPT threads; this is the first time I’m using this type of thread, so I would appreciate some advice from everyone.
If you require zero leakage under any conditions over the long term, it’s better to use a face seal similar to M20X1.5, as it can handle both high temperatures and pressures without issues.
It is better to change it to a flange connection.
I don’t think there’s much difference between M and G; those using M usually also have padding.
Yes, an M20X1.5 face seal is indeed better, but I didn’t order these fittings; they’ve already arrived and it’s not possible to replace them. So I was wondering if it would be fine to use packing tape as a substitute, and go with that for now. If that doesn’t work well enough, then we can consider replacing them.
The difference shouldn’t be significant; it’s possible that M has a smaller tooth spacing, which allows for a better clamping effect. I’m not entirely sure either.
Both G threads and M threads are straight threads, and both require flat gaskets for sealing. What is the fundamental difference between them?
I thought what you actually meant by ZG was sealing via threads. If the surface is sealed, there is no difference. Just choose the right mat
G-thread cannot be used for sealing; it can only be used for connection. Sealed threads can only use NPT threads.
