Standards for gaskets

There are many standards regarding gaskets, such as those for inner and outer rings, etc. – industry standards in the chemical sector, national standards, American standards, German standards, and various other industry standards. I would like to ask whether these standards can be used interchangeably or not ?
Gaskets are designed to be used in conjunction with flanges; the standard of the gasket corresponds to the standard of the flange being used. Generally, national standards are followed
Same as above; the gasket is selected according to the flange standards, and it is related to the flange sealing surface
Rectangular gaskets – there are countless variations in size, thickness, and specifications; it seems there’s no fixed standard
Gaskets are designed to be used in conjunction with flanges; the standard of the gasket depends on the standard of the flange used – there is no universal standard.
Are there also European standards? Aren’t all standards universal?
By taking into account factors such as pressure, temperature, and the hazard level of the medium, and by combining analysis with the contact area of the sealing surfaces, you can decide on your own whether it can be used, without having to rely on standards or general guidelines
