The Siemens valve positioner PS2 is frequently used; it consists of three main components: the circuit board, the piezoelectric valve, and the valve position feedback mechanism. When a fault occurs, I usually start by replacing it with a good circuit board for testing; if that doesn’t work, I replace the piezoelectric valve, and finally the feedback mechanism. The circuit board is quite delicate; we can’t repair it. The piezoelectric valve can be removed and disassembled to check its condition; otherwise, it needs to be replaced. The feedback mechanism measures changes in resistance; as the feedback rod rotates 360 degrees, the resistance changes as well, which is used to determine whether something is good or not.

Circuit boards generally don’t break. What tends to fail easily is the piezoelectric valve, as the diaphragm inside it can become fatigued. Just because the resistance value measured by the feedback potentiometer keeps up does not mean it is good, as sometimes an oxidation occurs at a certain resistance level and the multimeter fails to detect it.
Is there any need to hide this? It can just be said openly; there’s no reason to act as if others don’t know.
