What standards define or explain direct-reading level gauges?

“Is there an official term definition for a “direct-reading level gauge”? Or range definition? Is it mentioned in any standards or regulations?

It does not refer specifically to level gauges used in boilers, but also to those used in containers. Is your statement based on common understanding or is it substantiated? Is there a source for the relevant standards? Thank you
Of course, direct-reading level gauges are used in many applications; I’ve only seen explicit requirements for them in relation to bubbles in boilers. The above interpretation is my personal understanding
