Can a thermocouple with a range of 0–800°C measure temperatures up to 1300°C?
It depends on whether the 0–800°C range is set by the DCS or the display instrument, or it is the range specified at the time the thermocouple was manufactured. If it is the range set on the DCS, you need to check what the range of the thermocouple is at the time of manufacture; if the upper measurement limit exceeds 1300°C, it can be used, and the range can be adjusted on the DCS. If the upper temperature range of the thermocouple itself is 800°C, it cannot be used in an environment of 1300°C.
If it’s K-type, it won’t work. Choose type B, and select high-alumina casing

The third floor is the correct answer; option b should be chosen. The K-type thermometer cannot reach such high temperatures. I can’t remember the exact values; it’s possible to find them in relevant documentation.
For type K, it generally reaches up to 1000; 1300 is definitely not possible. The material of the sleeve also needs to be considered depending on the medium
As a manufacturer, they wouldn’t design it that way; the materials used for 1300-degree and 800-degree applications are definitely different, and customers wouldn’t pay the price of a 1300-degree product for one designed for 800 degrees. :hug:
