To prevent surge in the air compressor’s exhaust system, two valves are used for proportional control: Valve A is a ball valve that operates within the range of 0–60, while Valve B is a butterfly valve that operates within the range of 40–100. Could an expert please explain what the basis for such selection and design is?
What type of valve should be used, and must factors such as changes in pressure and flow rate be taken into consideration?
1. The use of large and small valves (with different CV values) in control systems is primarily intended to ensure good regulation properties across the entire range, by means of valve combination control under various operating conditions; 2. The anti-surge valve should open quickly and close slowly to prevent surge from affecting the process and causing damage to the equipment ; In the anti-surge control programs, such as CCC, there are four control lines: the surge control line (PID loop control for opening), the surge step line (step opening at 5% opening degree), the surge limit line (rapid full opening), and the actual surge line (invisible; recorded during the first actual operation test to refine the design). A valve together with a proper anti-surge program is sufficient to meet the control requirements. 3. I believe the design mentioned above is intended to enable quick opening during anti-surge operations as well as subsequent adjustments; you can discuss this in detail with the compressor manufacturer
I think it’s just changing into underwear and acting smart; there’s no real basis for it.
