I encountered a magnetic flap level gauge for water tanks; when the tank was being drained, it did not move downward along with the water, but it moved upward as water was added to the tank. Check that the upper and lower root valves are not clogged, and that the float and the inner wall of the cylinder are intact with no dirt. What’s the reason?
Can it only go up, not down? Is the flip mechanism not working smoothly?
A magnetic flap level gauge utilizes the relative movement of two magnetic poles and the effect of magnetic fields; when the float with magnets moves to a certain position, the magnetic flaps at that location flip due to the influence of the magnetic field (like poles repel each other, while opposite poles attract), thereby indicating the level of the liquid. So, in the situation you described, it’s possible that the float is slightly deformed or tilted, and there is sticking during its descent (the gap between the float and the buoy is very small). The speeds of the rising and falling processes differ significantly.
There might be some lagging; you can cut it open and connect a hose to the drainage outlet to pour water in. Remember to open the upper valve to allow air to flow in
The float’s mass is too small; it’s too light.
There could be two reasons: 1. The float actually moved downward but did not flip; you can try using a magnet to flip it. 2 The float is stuck. If conditions permit, open the upper drain valve to lower the liquid level and check whether the float changes. If the liquid level drops below the float and there is still no change, it can be determined that the float is stuck. Test: Cut out the magnetic flap, fill it with water, and observe the change in the float.
Is the tank made of carbon steel? Are there any magnetic wires or railings in the vicinity that could affect the operation of the magnetic flip columns? If there are no issues with jamming, check those factors. If the problem persists even after using a magnet to straighten things out, it’s possible that the magnetic insulation isn’t properly implemented
