I would like to ask the teachers: Under what circumstances should the empty tube detection function of the Cologne electromagnetic flowmeter be activated? Two issues have occurred with the electromagnetic flowmeters from Cologne that we use here: 1. The flowmeter shows flow rates even when no liquid is flowing through it ; 2. When traffic is flowing, it sometimes shows no traffic. The manufacturer responded at the time that they intended to initiate air traffic control testing. I don’t understand what air traffic control testing means Why do some need to have this feature enabled, while others don’t?

Airflow control detection is a process in which an electromagnetic flowmeter calculates and processes the signals sent from the electrodes, and then makes judgments based on those calculations. Normally, air traffic control monitoring should still be enabled. Otherwise, if the pipeline is not fully filled or contains many bubbles, significant measurement errors will occur. In certain special operating conditions, such as very low conductivity or when the medium is in a gas-liquid equilibrium state, an empty tube alarm may occur after activating the empty tube detection function. If high measurement accuracy is not required, it is possible to disable this function. This way, the signal can be output properly; otherwise, the flow meter will output an alarm signal.
