Is SIL certification applied to the entire instrument, or can it be applied to a specific component such as a float level gauge? I understand the concept of SIL for the whole unit, but I encountered a specification in which the design agency required that the external float have a SIL rating of 1. Can SIL certification be applied to the float alone or to the gauge head alone?
What kind of certification is that? They’re all certificates that can be obtained by just spending money
So if only the float part is considered and not the gauge head part, how can the safety level of the entire system be calculated?
What’s the use of SIL certification? To check its authenticity one has to go to foreign websites – it’s nothing but a gimmick. Basically, for 20,000 yuan one can get a certificate that looks genuine. Genuine certificates that are useful in China, such as explosion-proof certification and metrology certification, are ignored by everyone; having a foreign certificate makes things seem more sophisticated, but the instruments themselves remain the same!
SIL is nothing but empty nonsense; it’s adding unnecessary elements, a complete waste of money with no real use at all..... The longer it’s promoted, the more its true nature becomes apparent, and more people will realize what it really is..... I guess the person who’s driving its promotion isn’t necessarily an expert in instrumentation technology. Do the instruments need to be certified by them, and then it’s safe? ,...Is the instrument not safe if it isn’t certified? ,,, There are still such absurd and shameless things in the world. . .
Overall certification is sufficient; it’s just a certificate bought with money
