Both horizontal and vertical tubes can be used; for measuring gases with a horizontal tube, the U-shaped tube is oriented with its opening facing upward, while for measuring liquids it is oriented with its opening facing downward. In a vertical pipe, the flow direction is from bottom to top. II. The pipe must be completely filled. It is best to install it on a vertical pipeline, as mass flow meters are sensitive to stress-induced deformation; some small flow meters will show a reading just by twisting them. So it is generally installed in vertical pipes, which also ensures that the pipe is always full. If installed on a horizontal pipe, support must be considered. Regardless of the installation method, main installation stress must be considered, especially for small mass flowmeters.
