I know the debugging steps. I need to replace it with another one today, so I’ll take the old one to study it a bit. Why did it stop moving as soon as I rotated that auto??man valve? Unplugging the wires didn’t help, nor did returning it to its original position. What is that used for? As I understand it, that “auto man” setting is used to adjust the pressure of the pressure relief valve by setting it to “man”. The valve opening is controlled by adjusting the pressure of the pressure reducing valve.
If I remember correctly, it also has a knob (up and down). When you set it to ‘man’, turn the knob up and down to see what happens; when you set it to ‘auto’, turn the knob up and down again
That is for manually adjusting the output, usually used for zero-point adjustment. Under normal circumstances, automatic calibration is employed: set a current of 18mA (with the valve position set at 87.5% or 12.5%), hold the UP button for 3 seconds, and the automatic stroke calibration process will be completed in about 3 minutes; the valve position will then return to 87.5% or 12.5%, indicating that the process is finished.
I rotated it, and the valves all opened. No response when pressing up or down (the center control sent a signal for 90 degrees of opening)
Why did it open completely when I rotated that valve?
If you switch to MAN, the control valve diaphragm head directly filters the air supplied by the pressure reducing valve. With the valve fully open, it indicates that you are dealing with a pneumatically operated valve. Turning it back to AUTO means the positioner output. If it is switched back to AUTO, it should function normally; assuming there is no issue with the locator, it ought to work as expected.
