But why, after the Tang Dynasty, did the Song Dynasty not continue to use the prosperous city of Chang’an, but instead choose to move the capital to Bianjing (Bianliang, present-day Kaifeng in Henan)? ②The underlying chaos: Apart from the external factors of continuous warfare in Chang’an toward the end of the Tang Dynasty, another major and hidden cause that persisted for a hundred years was the degradation of natural resources, especially water resources.
