I. Product Overview: Radar level gauges use a non-contact measurement method, and there is a growing trend toward replacing contact-based level measurement techniques such as weight-type level gauges with them. Since it does not come into contact with the medium being measured, radar level gauges require almost no maintenance; they do not suffer from damage or clogging, there is no need to replace any components, and their lifespan is long. Additionally, they are easy to install and calibrate, and they are not affected by factors such as the gas composition, dust, or temperature changes in the silo. Suitable for solid materials, process vessels, or situations where strong dust tends to crystallize or form condensation. It features low maintenance, high performance, high precision, high reliability, and a long service life. It can adapt to harsh production environments such as high temperatures, high pressures, and steam. II. Standard installation requirements: The ability of a radar level gauge to measure accurately depends on the signal from the reflected waves. If, at the selected installation location, the liquid surface is unable to reflect electromagnetic waves back to the radar antenna, or if there are obstacles within the range of the signal waves that reflect interference waves toward the level gauge, then the level gauge will not be able to accurately reflect the actual liquid level. The measurement of a radar level gauge is calculated starting from a certain point; under normal circumstances, this starting point is the recessed area at the bottom of the tank. If one fails to pay attention and takes measurements below this recessed area, the accuracy of those measurements will be affected, and proper measurement cannot be carried out. Therefore, the proper and standard installation of radar level gauges has a direct impact on the measurement results. Therefore, it is very important to choose the installation location carefully. The following points should be taken into account during installation: 1. It should be installed on the outer wall at the designated location, ensuring that there is a certain distance between it and the tank opening; this will make it easier to use and improve the accuracy of the measurements. 2. Do not install it above the feed inlet during installation, as this will make it difficult to insert materials for measurement and other purposes. Additionally, maintain a distance between the gauge and the tank wall to prevent the medium on the tank wall from affecting the operation of the radar level gauge. 3. The axis of the antenna of the radar level gauge should be perpendicular to the reflecting surface of the liquid level. 4. Within the signal range of the radar level gauge, objects such as the mixing valve in the tank, adherents on the tank walls, and steps can generate interfering reflected waves, affecting the liquid level measurement. When installing, choose an appropriate location to avoid interference from these factors. 5. The bell mouth of the horn-type radar level gauge should be at a certain distance (>10mm) from the inner surface of the mounting hole. 6. The antenna of the rod-type level gauge must extend outside the mounting hole, and the length of the mounting hole shall not exceed 100 mm. For circular or elliptical containers, it should be installed at a distance of 1/2R from the center (where R is the radius of the container), and not at the center of the top of such containers. Otherwise, after being reflected multiple times off the container walls, the radar waves converge at the center of the container’s top, creating strong interference waves that affect the accuracy of measurements. 7. For measuring the level in containers where there are large fluctuations in liquid level, a level gauge equipped with a bypass pipe can be used to reduce the impact of these fluctuations.
