Are digital input and discrete input the same thing?
How should “Discrete input” be translated? Is this about CRCS? Is it a digital input?
What does “discrete field” mean then? Need some advice!

Digital input is a type of discrete input, and discrete inputs are not limited to just digital inputs.
Then why is everything in English a discrete input? How do foreigners know which one we are talking about?

A discrete quantity refers to a state quantity that is not continuous. A binary quantity is a type of discrete quantity with a specific meaning, but discrete values are not necessarily related to on/off states; they can also indicate one or several states, with the level being used to represent the meaning of those states. If some instruments display different measurement ranges by automatically switching scales, then the analog output value needs to correspond to the state value of this discrete quantity in order to determine which scale the instrument is on. Some instruments also output a held analog value during maintenance, and use a discrete value to inform the data user that the analog value at that time is a held value.
