Is there any technical method to monitor the position of the internal floating roof inside a storage tank using radar or infrared? As an internal floating roof tank, how can we monitor more intuitively whether the internal floating roof moves up and down with the liquid level, without any jamming or being submerged by the liquid surface? I seek guidance from the experienced members of this forum.

Radar ranging – exactly right. However, the radar is an intermittent malfunctioning device; it sometimes gives false readings. .

As for the location, it’s simple – just use a float. The container can be fixed directly to the internal floating roof. However, it’s difficult to determine whether it’s submerged by the liquid level; in that case, manual inspection is necessary. Regular inspections can be carried out through the observation holes on the roof, or by taking samples of the gas inside the container for analysis.
The local level gauge that uses a steel belt is one whose operation is linked to a floating disk for detecting the liquid level. Once the steel belt reaches the area where the floating disk is located, as the floating disk rises, the level gauge will show an increase in the liquid level on-site as the level rises, provided that the steel belt level gauge is functioning properly.
