Principles of solving multi-loop nested control systems

As the title suggests, I am looking to understand the principles of multi-loop nested control systems; it would be helpful if examples could be provided to make it easier to comprehend. Thank you.
Is it cascade control of PID? There is a primary loop and a secondary loop, with the output of the primary loop serving as the setpoint for the secondary loop. It can encode serially and decode serially; after decoding, the secondary circuit is under single-circuit control. When the single-loop mode is switched to manual, the actuator can be controlled directly.
