An electromagnetic flowmeter is a precise instrument for measuring flow rate. To prevent interference that could lead to measurement errors, electromagnetic flowmeters are usually given grounding protection. Next, we will discuss the requirements regarding the grounding of electromagnetic flowmeters. Grounding requirements: 1. Sensors and converters must be grounded separately; they must under no circumstances be connected to motors or process pipelines. The grounding resistance should be less than 10 ohms. 2. The measurement tube, housing, shield wire, converter, and secondary instruments of the sensor must all be grounded. 3. The grounding of sensors and converters should be done at the site, while the shielding layer of the secondary instruments should be grounded on the side of the control room. Multiple grounding points must be avoided to prevent interference caused by differences in potential. 4. The sensor is installed on a metal pipe, and its grounding wire can be connected to the pipe flange in accordance with the manufacturer’s requirements to form a reliable grounding circuit. The grounding point of the instrument should be an independent one; it cannot share the grounding of other electrical equipment. 5. In areas with high electric fields, we can take measures to provide shielding, but measurements cannot be shielded; therefore, the installation of electromagnetic flowmeters must be done away from strong magnetic fields.
