One control valve in the unit has been in use for a long time. Today, the control valve used for regulating the process reaction started to oscillate, so it was decided to take it out of service and reset it for recalibration. This is a gas-operated valve with a direct-acting mechanism and a stroke length of 16 mm. During calibration, it was found that when the + button was pressed in manual mode, the valve could not be opened to its full position; holding down the + button allowed the valve to reach an opening degree of around 70%, after which it returned to the fully closed position once the button was released. As a result, automatic calibration could not be carried out. There was no other choice but to restore the valve to its factory settings. After doing so, the valve’s position returned to the fully closed position, while the control system sent a signal indicating 37.5% opening. It was attempted to set the valve’s position at 50% in order to conduct automatic calibration, but pressing the + button did not allow the position to be fixed at 50%; once the button was released, the valve returned to the fully closed position. What could be the reason for this behavior?
It can be manually opened to around 70; so when the valve is operated manually at that level, is there any sticking? If not, then switch to a piezoelectric valve
But when the + key is released, it automatically returns to the valve-closed position
