What is liquid calibration for a pressure measurement system?

It seems to be a level correction – under what circumstances is level correction needed?
If the hydrostatic pressure exceeds the acceptable range, corrections must be made.
But this abbreviation is not something that non-professionals can really guess... it’s too concise!
I still don’t understand; pressure can be measured directly with sensors! Why is it necessary to revise it?
