An IP65 integrated electromagnetic flowmeter has been installed in the valve chamber, but the wires have not yet been connected. The manhole cover wasn’t properly closed, and heavy rain caused water to enter the valve chamber, submerging the flow meter entirely in water. Based on conservative estimates, could this flow meter get damaged? I checked the relevant information; only IP68 devices are allowed to be submerged in water. Can’t a flow meter in a valve chamber be of an integrated type? Otherwise, there is always a risk of water damage
A short-term immersion should not pose a problem. But if there are no wires connected, isn’t the connection port also unsealed?
I guess so. If the wiring part gets rusty, that would be troublesome, wouldn’t it?
It’s best to use a split-type design with sufficient water resistance; the split part should also have an IP67 rating, with the transmitter located on the ground. If there are no wires connected, remove them and let them dry. For the circuit board and the wiring panel, take apart any parts that can be separated, then leave it for two days before using it again. In the past, when we had free time, we would identify problems with the circuit board, purchase the necessary electronic components, solder them in ourselves, and then use them.
Those installed in flow meter wells must be split-type IP68.
Instruments installed in valve chambers or instrument chambers should achieve an IP68 protection rating. As far as I know, manufacturers such as Yokogawa Electric and E+H offer electromagnetic flowmeters with an IP68 rating
