I would like to ask the experts the following questions: 1. In which system is the control of fire pump systems implemented? Such as DCS, GDS, fire control cabinets (with fire linkage controllers). Are there any relevant regulatory requirements? 2. Do the controllers (control systems) used in the fire pump control system, local instruments such as pressure gauges, remote transmitters such as pressure transducers, electric valves, and other such instruments or control valves need to undergo relevant fire safety certifications? Thank you all!
The control of fire pump should be managed by the fire control panel, and the fire protection system should be an independent system.
1. The fire control system is not implemented within the DCS or GDS systems; it is an independent control system. It can be regarded as a PLC system, that is, the fire control cabinet with a fire linkage controller as you mentioned. This is a mandatory requirement that must be fulfilled; otherwise, the fire safety inspection will not be approved. Moreover, the fire control system must be manned, which means a post needs to be established for this purpose. 2. The controllers (control systems), instruments, and valves used in the fire pump control system do not require certification from the fire department. However, manufacturers of fire control equipment and control systems need to have the relevant fire safety qualifications; I’m not quite sure what those qualifications are called. But this falls under the category of equipment engineering, not automation engineering.
May I ask, regarding the first point you mentioned, there are mandatory regulatory requirements – which specific standard and which chapter does it refer to? Thank you!
I would like to add one more question: 3. Does the electric valve for the liquid level interlock in the fire tank of the fire protection system need to be part of a separate fire control system? Or does this interlock not fall within the scope of fire protection interlocks, and can it be implemented via DCS? Are there any relevant regulatory provisions?
1. \"Code for Fire Protection Design of Petrochemical Enterprises GB50160-2008\" and \"Code for Design of Automatic Fire Alarm Systems GB50116-2013\"; 2. The content covered in the third question is detailed in the \"Design Code for Automatic Fire Alarm Systems GB50116-2013\"; it does not involve equipment for fire linkage, as all control is carried out within the DCS.
