I’m seeking advice: what types of level gauges are currently in use for the steam drums of mature boilers, both for on-site use and for remote monitoring? In the past, on-site gauges were double-color glass panels, but the fluorescent lights inside them failed very frequently. For long-distance transmission, differential pressure is used, but there is always drift. Are there any better types of level gauges available now? Is there a better way to handle this to make the level gauge more reliable?
Fluorescent lights won’t do; you can opt for LEDs instead. For differential pressure sensors, choose a reputable manufacturer – I use EJA models; after all, for such critical applications, it’s essential to use high-quality products, no discussion possible.
Choose high-temperature resistant magnetic flap valves; for magnetostrictive types (the transmitter part does not require insulation). Use pressure tapping tubes for differential pressure applications, and add condensation tubes if necessary. Identify the real problem and resolve it
Level gauges used in boiler drum systems generally employ differential pressure transmitters with dual-chamber balance vessels; It is mature and stable; any drift indicates problems with the product quality.
