Does the rain cover protect the positioner or the cylinder?
There’s also this operation. Our factory facilities are all outdoors, without any covers. The main thing is to keep the wire entry points of the locator waterproof. However, there have been cases where water got into the cylinder, causing the plastic membrane inside to freeze and get damaged. The exhaust port on your cylinder is covered with a rain cover, but the locator is at the lowest point. Rainwater enters the locator through galvanized pipes and explosion-proof hoses. We now seal the hoses with foam adhesive.
That small protrusion on the cylinder is there to protect it from rain; it covers the cylinder’s exhaust port to prevent rainwater from getting in. With that feature in place, there is no need for a rain cover, a positioner, or a solenoid valve. These components usually meet an IP65 protection rating, so they can be used outdoors without any problems
The cylinder is equipped with a rain cover; as long as it is tightened properly, rainwater cannot get in. However, the locator might flow in through the wire conduit.
The positioning device, solenoid valves, and water inlet are generally connected using galvanized pipes or explosion-proof hoses.
3.0.3 The protection rating of instruments shall comply with the relevant provisions of the current standard **\"Protection Degrees for Enclosures\" GB 4208. Electronically powered instruments installed on-site should have a protection rating of at least IP65, while non-electronically powered instruments installed on-site should have a protection rating of at least IP54
Spending money on all those fancy things – our company originally wanted to add them too, but after doing the calculations, we realized we didn’t have hundreds of thousands of dollars available, so we dropped the idea. There are also the rain covers for motors, which are no longer available to buy either; the manufacturing plants refuse to produce them, and if they do, the price is more than twice as high as before

It’s obviously a positioner – the cylinder can take fire damage; what’s there to worry about from rain?
