The field transmitter is powered directly by the DCS card. If I now supply current at the field using a signal generator, how should the signal generator be connected to the transmitter? Does the signal generator still need to power the transmitter? If testing the DCS channel, how should the signal generator be connected?
Why is a transmitter needed to supply current using a signal generator? It can be connected directly to the DCS. If the transmitter is connected from the DCS cabinet side, then a hand operator needs to be connected in parallel.
The signal generator can provide active signals as well as passive signals; for AI measurements, the signals are sent to the card, while for AO measurements, they are sent to the field
Red connects to the positive, black to the negative. They all involve unplugging the wires and then reconnecting them

You’re using a signal generator to send signals from the field to the DCS for testing, right? Check your signal generator; generally, it has options for active and passive modes.
So if it’s powered via a card, my signal generator will only provide a current signal, right?
There are two modes to choose from for supplying current: two-wire or four-wire. If it is powered by a DCS, use the two-wire mode for supply
