I have a question: we built a separate building for the DCS cabinet area, without providing a dedicated room for the electrical distribution panels. Currently, several of these panels are mounted directly on the walls inside the cabinet area; there is still space in the engineer’s room. Could we place the electrical distribution panels there? These distribution boxes are used for fire protection purposes, to supply power to air conditioning systems, for fan control, and for lighting. There is a relevant regulation in chemical industry standards stating that electrical cables should not pass through engineer’s rooms and UPS rooms. I’m not sure if such cables are installed there; it’s necessary to check to see if it complies with the regulations
Find another place; if issues are identified during the inspection and corrective actions are required, it will only cause more problems
That is, the control room and the power distribution room are located separately
These distribution boxes are for use in the DCS cabinet room
They are related to each other, but this has no direct impact on whether they should be placed in the same room. It might be easier to manage them if they are kept separate, as it is more in line with the regulations
It would be best to create a separate compartment; our control room here has an explosion-proof structure, with the cabinet area and the UPS room separated by doors. There are 3 power distribution cabinets in the UPS room, which are responsible for supplying electricity to the air conditioning, lighting, fire protection systems, and other facilities in the control room
The suggestion for the 7th floor is good – to create partitions; I’ve seen designs like that before.
Have we made a mistake? We have a cabinet room, with several rooms separated off on one side for use as an engineer’s room and a UPS room
I asked an expert, who said it’s best to have the UPS room with nothing other than the UPS in it
