I would like to ask the experts: are there any mandatory requirements requiring that the isolation valves in crude oil storage areas be of fire-resistant type? If it is under that standard, please advise. Thank you!
It seems that no standard requires the use of fire dampers; it is usually a requirement from the process engineering team. Crude oil storage areas are key fire prevention zones; when selecting instruments for flammable materials, it is generally required that they meet the fire protection specifications for valves
3184-2017:5.4.1.11/12 mentions that valves with fire protection features are required………… but from what I’ve seen, such requirements apply only to major hazard sources of levels 1 and 2; I haven’t heard that they are mandatory for major hazard sources of levels 3 and 4. Also, in my conversation with the design institute today, they said that it is now necessary to present valve fire protection as a mandatory requirement to clients, but this applies to levels 1 and 2 as well. Ah, it’s troublesome without a standard foundation
