Dear technicians, per the safety inspection requirements, the DCS operator level is not allowed to change the alarm values. The operator level of the Hilscher DCS that we are using can be changed; how can we ensure that the alarm values cannot be altered? Please advise. Thank you.
Use engineer privileges to modify the operator’s permissions
Operator permissions can be set; by default, they cannot be modified
These matters are explained during the handover by the manufacturer, with specialized technical personnel handling the transfer. It is usually managed by instrument technicians; you can go straight to them to set the permissions, as there is a key for that. You can also inquire with the manufacturer. For reference.
During configuration, you can check the boxes related to operator permissions; simply don’t grant any permissions to them
Find an instrument technician; set the operator’s permissions so that they cannot make any changes
Just open the configuration management software and modify the operator permissions. That’s it
