A pressure gauge equipped with an overpressure/overpressure protection device; this protection device functions similarly to the safety valve in a pressure cooker, only instead of using a burst disc, it employs an adjustable spring mechanism to limit and release pressure. There is another type of overpressure protector that contains a piezoresistive slider inside; when overpressure occurs, this slider shuts off the flow of fluid to the pressure gauge, while simultaneously opening the pressure relief valve (although it can also be set not to open)
