In daily production processes, when using Rosemount transmitters, we may encounter the issue of problems with their output signals. For example, when we apply pressure to the Rosemount transmitter, the output remains unchanged; upon applying more pressure, the output changes suddenly, and when the pressure is released, the transmitter’s zero point fails to return to its normal level. This is actually a fairly common type of malfunction. So why do such problems occur? When there are problems with the output signal of a Rosemount transmitter, the following reasons should be considered: First, the instrument or other pressure sensors may have weak interference resistance for certain reasons. Second, due to the influence of the operating environment, the sensor itself vibrates heavily. Third, there may be some kind of malfunction in the sensor of the Rosemount transmitter. Fourth, the sensor wiring of the Rosemount transmitter is not secure, resulting in poor contact. Fifth, the pressure source of the Rosemount transmitter is an unstable pressure in itself. At this point, we can first check the sensor seal ring of the Rosemount transmitter for these issues. Sometimes, due to the seal ring being too soft or too thick, when the sensor is tightened, the seal ring gets compressed into the pressure sensing port of the sensor, thereby blocking it. As a result, the pressure medium cannot enter when pressure is applied; however, when the pressure becomes very high, it suddenly forces the seal ring to move aside. At this time, the Rosemount transmitter’s output changes as a result of the applied pressure. When the pressure drops again, the seal ring returns to its original position and blocks the pressure sensing port, preventing any remaining pressure from escaping. This is why the sensor’s zero point cannot be adjusted downward. To rule out this cause, the method is to remove the sensor from the Rosemount transmitter and check whether the zero position is normal; if it is, replace the seal ring and try again.
