We are currently using a Yokogawa vortex flowmeter, but the wastewater contains tiny particles of copper and silica as well as organic substances. After operating for some time, the readings shown by the meter fluctuate greatly and are inaccurate; tapping the flowmeter forcefully helps to improve the readings. What other types of flowmeters would be suitable for these processing conditions?

The curved part of the mass flow meter is installed with the upward orientation; there are no requirements regarding the length of straight sections before or after it, and the fluid does not tend to accumulate on the walls. It’s just that the cost is higher.
If the conductivity is acceptable, use a scraper-type electromagnetic flowmeter; if conditions permit, it’s best to install it vertically from bottom to top

In this case, debris and impurities accumulate in the gap between the vortex street generator and the flow meter body; installing the meter at a 90-degree angle can basically prevent such accumulation, and there is no need to replace the flow meter at all. Make sure the medium fills the tube completely. Alternatively, a T-shaped tube similar to a trap can be installed at an appropriate location upstream of the flow meter, so that the heavier impurities fall into this T-shaped tube, and it can be cleaned regularly. There are even those who suggest replacing it with a mass flow meter. What kind of mass flow meter would be used for process measurement? Only people with insufficient brainpower would think such a thing. When switching to an electromagnetic flowmeter, if there are metal debris particles present, they can cause serious interference with the electrodes; unless a capacitive electromagnetic flowmeter is used, there’s no need to spend extra money on measuring wastewater.
