I was wondering that diaphragm-sealed control valves are generally used for toxic media. Is it necessary to use diaphragm-sealed control valves for flammable and explosive media as well? (I noticed that the specifications only mention the use of diaphragm control valves for toxic media, without mentioning flammable and explosive media.)
Materials that are flammable and explosive do not necessarily require bellows sealing. For example, for natural gas control valves, only the electrical component needs to be explosion-proof.
It is mainly used for media that must not leak outward. Not only highly toxic substances, but also certain other media that react immediately upon contact with air can cause fires or even explosions even in the event of minor leaks; in such cases, bellows seals should be used. Ordinary combustibles, hydrocarbons, etc., are not needed.
I once asked the manufacturer about a similar question: the difference between bellows seals and other mechanical seals lies in their low leakage rate under harsh operating conditions; therefore, bellows seals are recommended for media that are flammable and explosive
On-site, for highly toxic and malodorous substances, valves that use bellows sealing are required to prevent leaks and reduce the number of potential leakage points.
What about those that are turned on and off frequently? The service life of bellows valves is generally not long~
