Colleagues, let’s discuss the disadvantages of installing pneumatic diaphragm single-seat valves on vertical pipelines.
All shall be in accordance with the requirements of the instruction manual. For reference.
1. The actuator diaphragm head requires support; 2. The valve stem movement may not be smooth ; 3. In some cases, it may cause pipeline oscillation.
A too large diameter won’t work; a smaller one will do
1. Pneumatic diaphragm single-seat valves with a diameter of DN50 or less, when installed in vertical pipes, have little impact. 2. Regarding the disadvantages, all pneumatic valves, whether they are diaphragm-type control valves or cylinder-type shut-off valves, present the following issue when installed in vertical pipelines: 2.1 First of all, it is important to install the pressure reducing valve for the instrument air supply vertically, so as to facilitate waste discharge from the valve and prevent clogging. 2.2 Considering that the self-weight of the pneumatic diaphragm chamber or cylinder can cause horizontal stress on the pipes, it is necessary to provide separate support for them. 2.3 Due to vertical installation, the valve stems of stop valves, gate valves, etc. need to move horizontally, which can lead to unilateral wear of the stem packing seals, deviation of the valve seat sealing surfaces, and wear on these sealing surfaces, thereby reducing the service life of the valves.
