For chlorine gas pipelines, I consider using diaphragm pressure gauges with Ta diaphragms filled with silicone oil. However, it is said that a mixture of silicone oil and chlorine gas can explode; should I then choose ones filled with fluorine oil?
What is the operating temperature of your medium? Is it dry chlorine or wet chlorine?
At a temperature of 30, it can’t be considered dry chlorine; otherwise, there would be no need for a diaphragm pressure gauge
Silicone oil is relatively inert because the Si-C bond is very stable. However, strong oxidizing agents can easily react with it, especially at high temperatures. Silicone oil reacts violently with chlorine; this will not happen at room temperature!
Besides, you use tantalum as the diaphragm! It won’t come into contact with the filling liquid inside the diaphragm box either
Consider the possibility of the diaphragm breaking or being poorly welded
Ten years ago, I worked on a chlor-alkali project; the flanged transmitters that used chlorine as the medium were all filled with fluorine oil, whose density is approximately 1.85. It seems that once silicone oil penetrates, it causes swelling; I can’t remember details such as the relationship between pressure and temperature. Fluorine oil is more expensive, but it provides better protection.
