According to specification 50770, for circuits of SIL2 and above, the measuring instruments as well as the final component switches and valves must be separated from the process control system. There’s no problem with that, but I have a question: for circuits of different SIL levels, such as a SIL1 circuit and a SIL2 circuit, can the interlock solenoid valves (which must meet SIL2 standards) be shared? Conversely, can a measuring instrument (meeting SIL2 requirements) be involved in both a SIL1 interlock circuit and a SIL2 interlock circuit at the same time? I kindly ask all the experts to help clarify this.
Sure, one measuring instrument can be shared across multiple interlock circuits; As for the actuator, it usually has one output; as long as the several interlock settings do not conflict with each other, that’s fine
