The company is a manufacturer of pharmaceutical intermediates; it is necessary to control the rate at which pH is adjusted during the production process. The rate of addition affects the reaction temperature, and it is also important to maintain the pH value of the product at around 9, as pH has an impact on the quality of the product. The previous PH online monitoring systems could not be used for long periods of time; it was said that high daily PH levels caused catalyst poisoning. Currently, the only option is to use PH test strips manually on an intermittent basis. Is there any device that can enable online monitoring in such high PH environments? The main factors that influence its lifespan include the concentration of organic substances, operating temperatures, the presence of toxic ions (sulfide ions, ammonia ions, cyanide ions can cause damage to the pH electrode), and environments where sticking occurs. When making purchases, you can consult the pH meter manufacturer for information on the operating conditions and parameters of their own production processes.
I’m not sure how long a duration you have in mind; the PH electrode is a consumable item that indeed needs to be replaced regularly. I’ve used them in my clients’ facilities, and in chemical plant environments, ordinary electrodes stop working after about two weeks due to contamination.
