In transmissive level gauges, a light source is located below the liquid, with a transparent glass plate above the liquid surface; the liquid level is measured through refraction and reflection between the liquid and the glass plate. Therefore, a reflective level gauge requires a mirror, making its structure more complex than that of a transmissive one; however, it offers higher measurement accuracy and greater adaptability. .
The difference between transmissive and reflective types in glass plate level gauges lies mainly in their structure and usage. In the vertical structure of reflective glass plate level gauges, generally only one glass cup and one viewing window cover are used, while in the structure of transmissive glass plate level gauges, the amount of these two materials is doubled.
